Our Powered Pallet Truck (PPT) Refresher Course is designed for experienced operators who have previously received formal PPT training and need to refresh their knowledge, practical operating skills and safe working practices.

Training is delivered by qualified instructors at Humber Training & Driver Solutions and is completed to ITSSAR accredited standards.

Powered Pallet Trucks are commonly used within warehouses, distribution centres, factories, loading areas and logistics operations for the safe and efficient movement of palletised goods.

• Refresher on Health & Safety responsibilities and relevant legislation
• Safe operation of a Powered Pallet Truck
• Understanding and correct use of controls
• Pre-use inspections and daily safety checks
• Identifying and reporting faults and defects
• Safe starting and stopping procedures
• Safe steering and manoeuvring
• Operating safely within confined and restricted areas
• Pedestrian awareness and workplace hazards
• Safe travelling procedures
• Understanding stability and load centres
• Correct assessment of loads before movement
• Correct positioning of forks
• Safely picking up palletised loads
• Transporting loads safely and securely
• Correct placement and depositing of loads
• Safe operation around loading bays and warehouse areas
• Safe operation on appropriate gradients and surfaces
• Battery safety and charging procedures where applicable
• Correct parking and shutdown procedures
• Practical Powered Pallet Truck operation
• Theory assessment
• Pre-use inspection assessment
• Practical operating assessment

The refresher course gives experienced PPT operators the opportunity to refresh their existing skills, correct any unsafe practices or bad habits that may have developed and demonstrate that they can continue to operate the equipment safely and competently.

Our instructors will assess each candidate’s existing ability and provide additional guidance and training in any areas where improvement is required.

Particular attention is given to safe manoeuvring, pedestrian awareness, correct load handling and maintaining full control of the equipment within busy warehouse and workplace environments.

On successful completion of the training and assessments, candidates will receive ITSSAR accredited certification, with their accredited operator training registered through the appropriate ITSSAR system.
