Objectives
On successful completion of the training course, delegates will be familiar with the essential skill requirements and job-specific safety knowledge necessary for the safe and effective operation of Pivot Steer Trucks.
Delegates will be able to:

Understand their legal responsibilities as an operator, including duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and PUWER

Identify the key components, functions, and limitations of a Pivot Steer Truck through full machine familiarisation

Carry out thorough daily and pre-use safety checks, including defect identification and reporting procedures

Safely operate all controls, instrumentation, and safety systems

Apply correct steering and manoeuvring techniques, particularly in narrow aisles and confined spaces

Accurately assess load weights, load centres, and rated capacities
-
Safely lift, carry, stack, and de-stack loads at various heights, including within racking systems
-
Confidently handle awkward, unstable, or irregular loads

Carry out safe vehicle loading and unloading operations, where applicable
-
Follow correct refuelling and battery charging procedures, in line with site rules and manufacturer guidance

Park, secure, and shut down the machine safely at the end of operations
-
Operate in a manner that minimises risk to themselves, other personnel, pedestrians, equipment, and property
