D1 Reach Truck – Refresher Course

Our D1 Reach Truck Refresher Course is designed for experienced Reach Truck operators who have previously received formal training and need to refresh their knowledge, practical operating skills and safe working practices.

Training is delivered by qualified instructors at Humber Training & Driver Solutions and is completed to ITSSAR accredited standards.

The D1 category covers rider-operated Reach and Straddle Lift Trucks.

Course Covers:

• Refresher on Health & Safety responsibilities and relevant legislation
• Safe operation of a D1 Reach Truck
• Understanding and correct use of controls and instruments
• Correct mounting and dismounting procedures
• Reach Truck stability and centre of gravity
• Safe manoeuvring and steering
• Operating safely within narrow and confined areas
• Correct use of the reach mechanism
• Correct use of hydraulic controls
• Safe load assessment and handling
• Picking up, transporting and placing loads
• Stacking and de-stacking at different heights
• Correct positioning when approaching racking
• Working safely within warehouse racking systems
• Pre-use inspections and daily safety checks
• Identifying and reporting faults and defects
• Battery safety and charging procedures
• Correct parking and shutdown procedures
• Practical Reach Truck operation
• Theory assessment
• Pre-use inspection assessment
• Practical operating assessment

The refresher course gives experienced operators the opportunity to refresh their existing skills, correct any unsafe practices or bad habits that may have developed, and demonstrate that they can continue to operate a Reach Truck safely and competently.

Our instructors will assess each candidate’s existing ability and provide additional guidance and training in any areas where improvement is required.

Particular attention is given to safe manoeuvring, accurate load positioning, correct use of the reach mechanism and safe operation around warehouse racking.

On successful completion of the training and assessments, candidates will receive ITSSAR accredited certification, with their accredited operator training registered through the appropriate ITSSAR system.
