Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence required to operate a Sideloader Truck safely, efficiently, and in accordance with current legislation, manufacturer’s guidance, and industry best practice.

By the end of the course, successful delegates will be able to demonstrate safe operating techniques, carry out effective pre-use checks, handle loads correctly, and operate the sideloader confidently within a variety of workplace environments while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Sideloader Truck Training Course

Understand their legal responsibilities as a sideloader operator under relevant UK legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)
Identify the key components, functions, and limitations of a Sideloader Truck
Carry out thorough daily and pre-use safety inspections, identifying defects and following correct reporting procedures
Demonstrate safe and correct use of operator controls, instrumentation, and safety systems
Safely start, manoeuvre, and stop the sideloader in both confined and open working areas
Apply correct steering techniques and maintain stability during travel and load handling operations
Accurately assess load weights, load centres, and rated capacities, ensuring operations remain within the machine’s safe working limits
