B1 Counterbalance Forklift – Novice Course

Our B1 Counterbalance Forklift Novice Course is designed for candidates who have little or no previous experience operating a forklift truck.

Training is delivered by qualified instructors at Humber Training & Driver Solutions and is completed to ITSSAR accredited standards, giving candidates the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to operate a counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently in the workplace.

The B1 category covers rider-operated counterbalance lift trucks up to and including 5,000kg capacity.

Course Covers:

• Health & Safety responsibilities and relevant legislation
• Introduction to the counterbalance forklift truck
• Understanding the controls and instruments
• Safe starting, stopping and manoeuvring
• Steering and operating safely in confined areas
• Forklift stability and centre of gravity
• Load assessment and safe load handling
• Safe use of hydraulic controls
• Picking up, transporting and placing loads
• Stacking and de-stacking at different heights
• Working with pallets and racking
• Safe operating procedures
• Pre-use inspections and daily safety checks
• Identifying faults and defects
• Practical forklift operation
• Theory assessment
• Pre-use inspection assessment
• Practical operating assessment

Candidates are trained progressively throughout the course, allowing them to build their skills and confidence in a controlled training environment.

On successful completion of the course and assessments, candidates will receive ITSSAR accredited certification and their training will be registered appropriately.
